Percolation of Finite Clusters and Infinite Surfaces

چکیده
Two related issues are explored for bond percolation on Z (with d ≥ 3) and its dual plaquette process. Firstly, for what values of the parameter p does the complement of the infinite open cluster possess an infinite component? The corresponding critical point pfin satisfies pfin ≥ pc, and strict inequality is proved when either d is sufficiently large, or d ≥ 7 and the model is sufficiently spread out. It is not known whether d ≥ 3 suffices. Secondly, for what p does there exist an infinite dual surface of plaquettes? The associated critical point psurf satisfies psurf ≥ pfin.

The Birth of the Infinite Cluster: Finite-size Scaling in Percolation
We address the question of finite-size scaling in percolation by studying bond percolation in a finite box of side length n, both in two and in higher dimensions. In dimension d = 2, we obtain a complete characterization of finite-size scaling. In dimensions d > 2, we establish the same results under a set of hypotheses related to so-called scaling and hyperscaling postulates which are widely b...
متن کاملTransience of percolation clusters on wedges
We study random walks on supercritical percolation clusters on wedges in Z, and show that the infinite percolation cluster is (a.s.) transient whenever the wedge is transient. This solves a question raised by O. Häggström and E. Mossel. We also show that for convex gauge functions satisfying a mild regularity condition, the existence of a finite energy flow on Z is equivalent to the (a.s.) exis...
متن کاملIsoperimetry and heat kernel decay on percolation clusters
Short title: Isoperimetry on percolation clusters. Abstract: we prove that the heat kernel on the infinite Bernoulli percolation cluster in Z almost surely decays faster than t−d/2. We also derive estimates on the mixing time for the random walk confined to a finite box. Our approach is based on local isoperimetric inequalities. Some of the results of this paper were previously announced in the...
متن کاملPercolation with trapping
A novel form of percolation is considered which is motivated by models of the displacement of one fluid by another from a porous medium. The physical idea is that if the displaced phase is incompressible, then regions of it which are surrounded by the displacing fluid become ‘trapped’ and cannot subsequently be invaded. We thus consider a new percolation process, ‘percolation with trapping’, in...
متن کاملTHE SCALING LAW FOR THE DISCRETE KINETIC GROWTH PERCOLATION MODEL
The Scaling Law for the Discrete Kinetic Growth Percolation Model The critical exponent of the total number of finite clusters α is calculated directly without using scaling hypothesis both below and above the percolation threshold pc based on a kinetic growth percolation model in two and three dimensions. Simultaneously, we can calculate other critical exponents β and γ, and show that the scal...
